Local Schools

The children of Charlestown receive their education through Chariho Regional School District. Home to four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school, the district is known for its standards based grading, in which students are graded on specific standards in academic subjects as opposed to an overall points-based grading system.

In addition to the traditional schools, the district is also home to the RYSE School, which serves at-risk youth, and Chariho Career and Technical Center serves youth and adults in the following fields: culinary arts, cosmetology, construction technology and automotive technology.

University of Rhode Island is a large public university offering undergraduate degrees in a variety of subjects such as accounting, engineering, music education, fashion, and health studies. Rhode Island College is a small public college that is home to only 9,000 students, which is ideal for students who prefer smaller classes.
